Education department is among 19 Departments of Njombe District Council working closer to the community in implementing activities intend to attain women and children welfare livelihood improvement; to promote the use of available resources and other opportunity and to alleviate poverty within their surroundings. The Njombe district council recognizes the central role of the education sector in achieving the overall development goal of improving the quality of life of the community living in council.
The major functions of primary education are:
To consolidate and broaden the scope of baseline ideas, knowledge, skills and principles acquired and developed at the primary education level.
To overcome global challenges, children need pre-primary, primary and lower to equip them with knowledge and skills to fight against ignorance, also to be used as a source of human capital for country’s economic growth. There are 83 pre-primary schools with 727 Classrooms,1097 pit latrines, 360 teachers’ houses. Primary schools have the capacity to accommodate 35,492 pupils served by
more than 727 Teachers. The school’s infrastructures are built by Government, Community and NGOs in collaboration with Donors.
